Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What paperwork is required for me to donate my vehicle?
A: The most commonly needed documentation is your vehicle’s Certificate of Title. However, depending on state and local regulations, other documentation may be needed. For details, call us at 866-483-9516.
Q: If my name is not on the title can I still donate it?
A: This depends on state and local regulations. In some cases, it is possible to obtain sufficient documentation from your local DMV office so that you can donate your vehicle.
Q: Can I still donate my vehicle if I cannot deliver it to your store?
A: If your vehicle is located within our towing area, we will work with you to schedule a date / time to pick it up.
Q: If I am using your towing service, how long does it take to pick up my vehicle?
A: After placing your request, it generally takes 1-2 business days for our dispatcher to contact you to set up your tow appointment.
Q: How much will the charity receive as a result of my donation?
A: We have a contract with the charity under which we pay them an agreed upon value that the parties believe represents a fair market value for the vehicles.
Q: How does my selected charity get the proceeds from my donation?
A: Once we process your vehicle, we will send the funds directly to the charity on your behalf.
Q: What do you do with my vehicle after I donate it?
A: In most cases, we recycle the vehicle using our award winning environmentally-friendly process. This involves removing vehicle fluids and hazardous materials, then making the vehicle available for our self-service customers to remove parts and finally recycling the remaining scrap metals and other materials for use in new products. In a few cases, we will sell the vehicle intact as a "re-buildable" vehicle, where someone else makes the vehicle road worthy again.
Q: How does donating my vehicle help the environment?
A: Since we recycle your vehicle, we help the environment by reducing the need to create new products from virgin materials which in turn saves energy, water and reduces mining and other production wastes. In the case of vehicles that won't pass emissions testing, polluting vehicles are removed from the community to prevent further air pollution.
Q: How do I know my selected charity received my donation?
A: Your charity will acknowledge your donation directly to you within 30 days and also provide you with any tax documents you might need.
